Roseanne Liang has experience and success in writing and directing for screen.  Most notably, her feature film My Wedding and Other Secrets ​​was the first theatrically released film made by a Chinese New Zealander, and became 2011's highest grossing local feature film. Roseanne is a New Zealand Chinese screenwriter and director. She has been awarded SPADAS New Filmmaker of the Year and WIFT's Woman to Watch in the years since completing her Masters at the University of Auckland.  Her short film Take 3 won awards at A-list film festivals in Berlin and Spain.  

Roseanne's first feature film, My Wedding and Other Secrets, was released in New Zealand last year to five star reviews in the New Zealand Herald, Dominion Post and Otago Daily Times.  Based on her award-winning autobiographical documentary Banana in a Nutshell, My Wedding and Other Secrets won Best Actress and Best Feature Screenplay at the 2010 Aotearoa Film & TV Awards, and continues its international festival run.  Roseanne was also recently named a Sir Peter Blake Trust Emerging Leader, and was a finalist in the Arts and Culture section of Next Magazine’s Woman of the Year Awards 2012.​

Kerry Warkia joins the Flat3 whanau for Season 2.  She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm as an experienced actor and producer.


Kerry completed her Bachelor of Screen and Performing Arts at Unitec in 2002. While there she met her actor/director husband Kiel McNaughton. The duo now run their own successful production company Brown Sugar Apple Grunt - best known for producing local comedy juggernaut Auckland Daze. The hit web series has now been picked up by TVNZ.


Her TV and film producing credits include - Auckland Daze, Find me a Maori Bride, and Waru.

JJ Fong currently stars in South Pacific Pictures' Step Dave as Betty Lowe. She has trained in commercial dance and musical theatre at Wellington Performing Arts Centre. 

JJ works in the industry fulltime as a singer, dancer and actor.  She loves the performance side of the industry and will continue to act and perform as much as she can. 

Her TV and theatre credits include - Go Girls, Step Dave, Man in a Suitcase, Miss Saigon, The Secret of Dongting Lake.

Ally Xue has been an actor since high school and continues to perfect her craft. She is an optometrist and currently studying for her PhD degree in Ophthalmology. 

Her TV and theatre credits include - Dirty Laundry (2016), Harry (2012), The Bonefeeder (2011), Pacific Beat Street (2010), The Secret of Donting Lake (2010), Eruption (2009).

Perlina Lau finished her Bachelor of Communications at AUT and currently works for TV3.

She has experience in theatre, television and is actively involved in the industry. Perlina plays the piano, cello and has composed for various theatre productions. 

Her TV and theatre credits include - These are the Skeletons of Us, The Terrific Tale of Tabitha Talmus, Power Rangers, The Secret of Dongting Lake and Before the Rain.
